She wanted to persuade politicians to do something about the global warming. Swedish media took pictures of Thunbergs strike, and news became known. Following the strike the students from all over took part in Thunberg's #FridaysforFuture movement. Students opted to skip Friday school to protest global warming. In 2019 climate campaigners around the world joined together for the first Global Strike for Climate. The Global Strike for Climate was an enormous achievement. Over 1.6 million participants took part from 125 different countries.
